#3446 - Killing

Chapter 3449: A Deadly Trap

“What are you doing! This is the Sukan Dynasty! These are my soldiers!”

In the ruined capital city, Sukan clutched his scepter, a solitary figure. Around him stood a dozen overlords or generals from various dynasties, along with the armies they commanded.

The Sukan Dynasty's legions, once under his complete control with a single thought, now stood motionless in the plaza. Ghost Arks, like claw machines, seized them in batches.

“Denulu!”

Rakzan glared furiously at the technician hiding behind the arrogant overlord of the Sotek Dynasty. He had once been his most trusted technician, but he was the first to betray him, surrendering control of the tomb!

“You damned traitor! Serpent!”

The technician revealed half his face, replying in a dry, withered voice:

“Your Majesty, the Sukan Dynasty is finished. Haven't you realized that yet? The dynasty ceased to exist the moment you killed your father. All that remains are your delusions.”

“You—”

Sukan angrily raised his scepter, but almost instantly, hundreds of weapons were aimed at him.

“Patricide, your nobles are all dead. We have received permission from the Triarch Council to take over the remaining legacy of the Sukan Dynasty. Don't lose your last shred of dignity.”

The hybrid of the Sotek Dynasty contemptuously pointed at him with the war scythe in his hand. In the past, anyone who dared to do so would have surely triggered a war.

But now...

He had nothing left, no legions, no subordinates.

“A wretch who has betrayed twice, you should have been executed. Be grateful for the great benevolence of the Silent King.”

“Patricide! Traitor!”

“A toy of the Star Gods.”

“Rakzan, the King Without a Nation.”

Child, you will drag us all into the endless abyss...

“No! No!”

Rakzan dropped his scepter, clutching his head with both hands, kneeling on the ground.

“Was I wrong? I wasn't wrong! Was I wrong? No! No! Father, tell me! Was I wrong!”

When the wailing Phaeron finally raised his head, everyone had left. Sukan's former capital was now utterly desolate, with only the moaning of the wind, seemingly mixed with countless mocking laughter.

Like a puppet with severed strings, he wandered through the capital, his feet dragging through the sand, his luxurious robes slapping against his knees, the light in his eye sockets flickering on and off.

Finally, his footsteps halted before a magnificent statue. The statue was almost completely shattered, with only a small portion of the base remaining, but he remembered that it was once used to glorify the great Star Gods.

“That's right... It's all the Star Gods' fault! Yes, it's all their fault! It's all their fault!”

Suddenly, the flames in his eye sockets reignited, but they were the flames of madness.

“Revenge! Father, I will avenge you! I will kill all the Star Gods in the universe!”

Raising his scepter high, Rakzan swore an oath and turned towards the pyramid. He still had his personal vault, which contained weapons sufficient for him to hunt the Star Gods.

He was still the Phaeron of Sukan, but from this day on, he would be Rakzan, the Star God Hunter!

“. He came here willingly? Who told him there were Star Gods here?”

The sensory circuits gradually recovered, and a blurred image was transmitted back to Rakzan's consciousness. He could feel the powerful energy right in front of him, within reach.

The intelligence was indeed correct, so—

Szarekh looked at the thing confined within the Black Stone cage. It looked so broken, so pitiful, curled up in the corner, its head buried between its knees. The metal cloak that should have been shining was tattered, and the jewel-encrusted body and crown were like desolate ruins, full of gaps and cracks. If it weren't for the occasional flicker of energy on its body, he would have even mistaken it for a wreck.

However, the Phaeron of the Sukan Dynasty at the time and many others did not agree with biotransference. Moreover, due to the long-term, fruitless, and exhausting wars, a strong pacifist ideology had emerged in the Sukan Dynasty. From nobles to commoners, they began to believe that they should not fight the Old Ones and that Necrons needed to accept the flaws in their genes and maximize the value of their short lives. But this was unacceptable to the warmongering Rakzan, so he raised the banner of rebellion, leading his army to conquer city after city of his own dynasty, even personally slaying his father and dragging all the survivors into the biotransference furnaces.

The Star Gods were, of course, pleased with his loyalty—but not with his dynasty. During the War in Heaven, the legions of the Sukan Dynasty were repeatedly used as cannon fodder by the Star Gods.

Only after the Sukan Dynasty was withering away did Rakzan awaken from his illusions. Therefore, when the Silent King wielded his blade against the Star Gods, no one was more eager than Rakzan to lead the charge.

As a result of his two betrayals, all the Sukan nobles eventually died in the War in Heaven, except for Rakzan himself. Immediately afterward, the unsupervised legions of the Sukan Dynasty were immediately divided up by other dynasties, and the Triarch Council remained silent about this from beginning to end.

When the dynasty was left with only a bare Phaeron, Rakzan was said to have gone completely mad. He called himself the Star God Hunter, vowing to hunt down every Star God shard and lock them in the Hyperdimensional Labyrinth, never to let them wreak havoc on the world again, forever.

After listening to the whole story, Szarekh almost couldn't help but burst out laughing.

What a treasure!

It seemed that the Necrons had once been a rather diverse species. This person, whether in thought, behavior, or outcome, was a freak of nature.

But Szarekh had a doubt in his mind. The other party must have come for the Flayed One, but how would it know that the resurrected Flayed One would appear here?

Suddenly, Rakzan raised his head. The moment Szarekh met those fiery eyes, he immediately realized something was wrong.

“Scatter!”

With a roar, a surge of energy visible to the naked eye erupted from Szarekh's body, blasting Val'gor and the others away for miles. At the same time, the captured tomb ship suddenly activated. A certain device on its body was activated, and then it fired a beam of black light towards the White Bone Dynasty's palace.

In that instant, the sky was torn open, or rather, the massive palace simply disappeared.

Szarekh, incarnated as a Star God, stood beneath the stars. Of course, to mortal eyes, those were just stars, but Szarekh only saw a huge obsidian mirror, covered with dazzling crystal dust. He now had a more integrated form, with fiery streamers and quantum skin suspended on his body. Blood-colored weapons formed his robes, and two scythes, one red and one black, symbolized reaping and death. The other two arms held a spiral sword and a spear in the same gene-spiral form. The shattered silver crown floated on his emotionless metal face. The crown was much more complete than in the past, and on it, one could see the faces of different Star Gods, either angry or mocking.

And that Star God Hunter, Rakzan, was enveloped in the black beam of light, holding a hyperdimensional cube high in his hands.

He glared hatefully at the Star God before him, his dissolving face opening its lower jaw, emitting a roar mixed with noise, enough to penetrate space.
