The Emperor’s Angel of Death

#2179 - Unexpected betrayal

The howling of the depressurized ship cabin drowned out the roar of the engines. Sotha stepped out of the cabin, followed closely by the command staff of the other chapters, their helmet lenses flashing red in the swirling light and shadows.

Soon, every boarding party reported a successful landing. The Red Corsairs' weak firepower could not stop such a large-scale boarding. What followed was intense fighting, first against the well-armed shipbound laborers, and then against the real target: the Chaos Space Marines of the Red Corsairs.

These traitors emerged from the dimly lit shadows, their crimson armor dull under the gray lumens.

The boarding forces of the Star Knights quickly gathered by company size and then swept through the branching corridors. Under the effective command chain, they acted in unison, driven to a more fanatical level by the urgent desire for victory.

Sotha did not rendezvous with the 1st Company but headed straight for the command bridge with those around him. However, he soon encountered an obstacle: a squad of Red Corsairs in Terminator armor, backed by a large number of mortal auxiliary troops. They blocked the road with a cross-shaped steel barricade, seemingly determined to defend it to the death.

Sotha knew from Ockham's intelligence that Huron's guard was a group of Terminators, which meant he was close to his target.

Seeing Sotha and his men appear, the Red Corsair elites did not flee but instead launched a charge. Combi-bolters spat out dazzling fire, and chainswords roared.

At the same time, Murad, Yazdan, and others around Sotha opened fire on the enemy.

Sotha charged forward silently, without a passion-filled roar amplified by a vox-caster, only a silent, efficient slaughter.

A Terminator wielding a chainaxe was the first to fall. As Sotha unleashed the bullets from his arm-mounted weapon on him, his armor turned into bloody fragments all over the ground, then Sotha flung him away against the distant wall with a right-arm sweep.

But such a death did not deter these elites. With a roar, another Terminator charged, his four adamantium claws on his left hand covered in energy, the dazzling blue light illuminating the surrounding darkness.

Sotha still silently met the opponent head-on, violently shaking in a sharp scream. Heaven's Fury tore through the thick ceramite as easily as cutting butter, pushing inward, sliding through flesh, and severing tendons, muscles, and bone.

Instantly, scorching blood gushed along the edge of the weapon, boiling and hissing on the blade.

The Terminator staggered, unwilling to fall even though he had been gutted, until Sotha punched him in the head, and he fell to the deck with the last heavy crash of his armor.

Such a kill was hard for Sotha to feel anything about. He violently甩了甩 Heaven's Fury,洒下斑斑 bloodstains on the deck, and then the heavy steps of the Terminator sounded from the side passage. Mark and the others had arrived and opened fire freely, forcing the enemy to retreat.

"Charge into the bridge with me and take Huron's head!"

The subsequent process was extremely smooth, and the Red Corsairs' resistance was completely insignificant, but it made Sotha feel uneasy. This was far from the resistance he had estimated. There were not even many Terminators, and not many defense facilities were activated inside the ship.

This looked like an ordinary cruiser, not Huron's flagship. Was he so careless that he thought he wouldn't be boarded?

Soon, the blast door leading to the command bridge appeared. Just as the others were preparing to place melta bombs to blow it open, the bridge door opened by itself.

At the same time, an unfamiliar signal cut into Sotha's private communication.

For a moment, his expression was extremely ugly.

Finally, after taking a deep breath, he said in a low voice to those around him:

"No one else goes in."

"Chapter Master, there may be—"

"That's an order!"

Impatiently throwing down these words, Sotha stepped into the bridge with accumulating anger.

The bridge was circular, with the command throne in the center, and stepped platforms and servitor stations arranged in concentric circles. The crew inside were sitting blankly in their positions, abandoning all work.

On the command throne, with his back to Sotha, one could vaguely see a figure sitting on it.

As the command throne slowly turned around, Ockham, wearing Alpha Legion-painted armor, with his fingers crossed and his back of his hands supporting his head, appeared in front of Sotha—

Sotha silently walked to a position a few meters away from the other party, looked down at this undercover agent who had played an almost decisive role in the expedition, barely suppressed his anger, and said in a low voice:

"Give me an explanation."

Ockham spread his hands.

"As you can see."

"So, at the last moment, you gave me false information and became a double agent!"

Ockham smiled slightly.

"You could say that."

The next second, a huge palm grabbed his jaw, pinched his neck, and lifted him into the air.

Sotha's eyes, burning with anger, stared at Ockham, whose face was flushed red. When his fingers exerted a little force, he could even hear the cracking of bones.

"I trusted you so much, but you deceived me in the end?"

"Cough an Alpha Legionnaire is not trustworthy"

"So you are actually an incorrigible traitor, right? Then I have remembered this lesson, and you must pay the price for your betrayal!"

As Sotha exerted force little by little, Ockham's face turned as red as a light bulb, but suddenly, his hand loosened, and he fell back onto the throne.

"Tell me, what exactly do you want to do."

Ockham bent over and coughed a few times, and after spitting out a mouthful of blood, he straightened up and said:

"I'm just making what I think is the most reasonable judgment."

"Reasonable! Do you know how many people died for this expedition! How can I let them down!"

"What good will it do to kill Huron?"

"What are you talking about? Are you crazy?"

"Garrosh has run away. He is waiting to divide the Red Corsairs' legacy, and I think he has the ability to do so. The point is that he now belongs to the Black Legion. Zhu Fu can't beat him. Do you want to face a mortal enemy who owns the Maelstrom?"

"A冢中枯骨而已! If I destroy Huron, he dares to stay in the Maelstrom, he'll be next!"

"Then what about Leman Russ?"

Sotha frowned instantly.

"What did you say?"

"The Space Wolves Primarch, Leman Russ, launched a raid when your wife seized the Blackstone Fortress."

"What!?"

Sotha stepped forward and grabbed Ockham's arm and dragged him up.

"Explain it clearly!"

"I only know that much, but that Eternal Queen should be fine, but how did Leman Russ know she was going to the Blackstone Fortress?"

Sotha let go of Ockham, stood there and pondered for a moment, and then said hesitantly:

"Does he does he know about my relationship with Veronica?"

"What do you think?"
